The four-fold purpose of the International Service Corps, Journeyman and Masters Programs
  1. To utilize available resources to effectively meet field needs–the missionary candidate is the resource and the field need is the job one will do. It is our goal that this will be done effectively.
  2. To encourage eternal growth and overseas involvement–the application process itself should be a growing experience, but this goal means that people will hear and respond to the life-changing message you have to share.
  3. To provide personalized interpretation of global work to stateside institutions–IMB missionaries share what God is doing around the world through newsletters and then church visits once back in the states. You might be the only missionary your church has ever sent out, which now makes missions personal for them!
  4. To enhance the work to the international community in the USA–the world has come to America. After your return, you should take your overseas experience and begin to work in the international community here in the states. Not so much those who have immigrated to the states (which involves ministries of the NAMB), but those who have come to this country with the intention of returning to their country of origin. This may be their only opportunity of meeting Christians.
