A new journeyman on the field ...

It is with great joy that I say hello to you all the way from Lesotho, Southern Africa! I arrived less than a week ago and my time here has been nothing but amazing and incredible. Thank you so much for all of the love and kindness you all have shown to me and my family during this time.

Because YOU prayed:

  • Both of my long flights were peaceful and I was able to sleep somewhat well.
  • All of my luggage arrived and I had no problems with South Africa or Lesotho customs and immigration.
  • I am settled in my apartment with my precious roommate, Glenna.
  • I am doing better at driving a stick shift and adjusting to the LEFT side of the road.
  • I am adjusting to the culture and environment of Lesotho as each day passes.

Things to be praying for:

  • The Basotho people--that they will come to know Jesus as their personal Savior.
  • My physical health (I have caught a mild cold and am adjusting to a high-altitude).
  • The Lesotho Baptist Women's Retreat this weekend (Friday through Sunday).
  • I will be living with a national family next Monday through Thursday to learn language and culture.
  • The Basotho team
  • That my walk with the Lord will remain the utmost priority in my life, and that the WORK of the Lord will not come before my WALK with the Lord.

For more information on the Basotho people, visit www.basotho.org. Thank you again for all of your prayers. Remember, if you stop praying, I might as well pack my bags and head back to America. So, please, I beg you, intercede for me, the Basotho team, and the Basotho people as you feel the Holy Spirit leading you to do so. To God be ALL the glory for the great things HE has done and will continue to do among the nation of Lesotho!!!!

Amy's top 10 list of firsts

  • Eating an entire dinner without anything to drink.
  • Successfully driving a stick shift (most of the time).
  • Having a female hold my hand like only a male should.
  • Getting a hair cut, shampoo, and fixed for $5.
  • While staying with 'M'e Moipone, praying that I wouldn't have to use the outhouse until daylight.
  • Sitting through an entire church service and understanding about two words.
  • Eating an entire meal for under $2.
  • Driving on the left side of the road really means I am driving on the right side of the road.
  • Eating at a place called "Wimpy's" where the cream soda is green!
  • And the #1 ...
Having said to me, "Gosh, your skin is awfully bright!"
