The Netherlands

Three years before I went to the field, I applied for the Jman program and didn't really see an assignment on the list that I really sensed God leading me to do and went to the candidate conference and everything. Through the counsel of others and through praying about it I decided it was best for me to put the whole thing on hold and three years later when this position came open in the Netherlands I just knew it was God's leading. I would advise anyone to really pray over it, consider it and go when the time is right. The person who was advising me said that the call to missions is a like a piece of fruit and you don't want to pick it until it's ripe. I really felt that way. If I had gone earlier, the time would not have been right and I would have missed out on this experience. God knew.

Another thing the person advising me shared was the illustration of one boat going into the harbor and there being three lights. When those three lights line up as one it is safe to go in without hitting any of the rocks. The three lights are God's Word, confirming circumstances and peace. I really looked for those things.
