Postcards
from the field
Scotland
I had a lot of really
good friends while I was
in Scotland. They all
cooked for me, because
I couldn't–well,
I didn't–cook for
myself. I had two really
good friends who were
single when I got there
and were dating. They
were engaged and I got
to be in their wedding.
It was really exciting
to get to be a part of
that whole celebration.
They're kind of now taking
on the job that I left.
It was neat to see the
discipling process; how
they have raised up over
the last two years as
we've grown closer together
and have spent time together.
God has used that to raise
them up as strong leaders.
They're young but they
have so much potential
for the young people in
the church and in the
community. They have a
heart for that and a vision
for that state that I
don't think they had before.
It's good to know they're
going to continue the
process that was started.
If
someone is interested
in the journeyman program,
I think it's good to be
sure. There was never
a point in my experience
when I just wanted to
pack up and go home. I
got really frustrated
sometimes and felt really
alone, but there was never
a point when I wanted
to just pack it all in.
That's because I knew
that was where God had
placed me. God had called
me, and I was very sure
of that. However, it's
not as scary as it seems,
and God is going to sustain
you through it all, no
matter what. By way of
encouragement, it's not
as bad as it seems and
it goes by really quick.
You'll be leaving wanting
more.
