Apply again for service

We have a number of applicants that do not move ahead in the process, either by their choice or ours, either before conference or after, so we wanted to outline a general procedure for getting back into the screening process.

First of all, there were likely some issues that needed resolution, so during the delay, the applicant will have worked through the issue(s) and at the right time will report appropriately to the ISC/Journeyman team.

Medical delays are handled through our medical office, and they will inform the ISC/Journeyman team that the medical issues have been resolved.

At the appropriate time, the applicant will follow these steps to getting back into the screening process:

  • The missionary applicant contacts the ISC/Journeyman team, completes the online information form (if not already completed).
  • A team assistant will review the materials to see what has been added to the file since the beginning of the delay; i.e., medical reports, counseling reports, letters of clarification, interview or phone call notes.
  • A team consultant will review your materials to determine the next few steps and needed information.
  • Generally, we will need only an update to your autobiography, to include from where you previously left off until the current time. Include what you have been doing during the delay: vocationally, educationally, ministerially and socially.
  • We will sometimes need a new set of references if it has been a significant period of time since last application, or there has been a move, or perhaps previous references indicated deficiencies which confirmed that overseas service was too great a risk at that time.
  • If an applicant is in a new church, a new recommendation will be required.
  • A new statement of Christian beliefs will not be needed unless the first statement needed clarification or elaboration.
  • If it has been years since you attended screening conference, another conference will likely be required.
