Missionary Apprentice

The Application Process

Contact Office of Mission Personnel

When you contact us, we will ask you to complete an Information Form, including this information:

  • Marital Status - If you are applying for long-term service, you cannot be divorced. If you are divorced, you can apply for short-term missions opportunities. Click on the categories above to find out more.

  • Age of Children - There are no age limitations on preteen children who accompany their parents to the field. As children approach the teen years, we want to make sure that those children can make the adjustment to a new culture and are considered on a case by case basis.

  • Citizenship - If you are not a US Citizen, then you must be a permanent resident.

  • Length of church membership - Active membership in a Southern Baptist Church for at least 3 years is required.

  • Evangelism training - You’ll need to have completed a multi-week evangelism training program that includes practical experience through visitation prior to attending a Candidate Conference. Read more about Evangelism Training

  • Educational background - Please note any degrees earned. If no degree, please note number of hours attained.

  • Employment experience - Apprentice service itself is a means of gaining the field experience needed for career or associate service. Prior church-related and secular experience will be evaluated as part of the apprentice application process.

You may fill out this form on-line.

After We Receive Your Forms
A Candidate Consultant will contact you to answer your questions and gather information about your personal call, education, experience, family issues, health and job interests.

Candidates may be invited to participate in an MIC or similar group meeting in their area to receive useful information related to the appointment process.
