The Application Process

Orientation and Departure

Following appointment, the missionary family will attend a seven-week orientation session at the Missionary Learning Center in Rockville, Virginia, just west of Richmond. Furnished quarters, meals, child care and schooling are provided at the Missionary Learning Center. All family members will be in class each day Monday through Friday. Children of all ages are cared for in the MK school. Salary begins one month prior to entering orientation, as authorized by your regional office.

After completion of orientation, the missionary family departs for the overseas assignment to begin formal language and cultural learning. Generally, the family should plan to leave the country in two weeks or less after the end of orientation.
