Traveling in small groups with a national partner you will offer prayer for those you meet and search for persons of peace in the community. You will seek to share the gospel with as many as possible. You will be supplied with literature to distribute as you go. Contact information will be collected from those who make decisions and those who seem to be persons of peace. Follow up will take place after you leave.

Any 10 days between May. 1, 2010 and May. 30, 2010
Specific Date Instructions
Dates are flexible but sometime in May 2010 would be ideal. Please notice that we have a second volunteer request for June-July 2010. Health Considerations
Health conditions that could prevent a volunteer from
accepting this assignment
Those who have serious health concerns should contact the field prior to committing to this trip. Those with allergies to particular foods should also consult with the field personnel prior to commitment. If in doubt, please ask.
Factors that could influence the volunteer's ability to do
this job
This is a tropical climate so volunteers should expect hot and humid conditions. They will likely not have air conditioning in their hotel. There will likely be significant walking on uneven paths but without much elevation change. Most meals will consist of rice with lentils. If there is meat, it will likely be chicken, mutton, or fish. Local food is spicy but may be requested with less spice for foreigners. Please consult with your doctor concerning recommended immunizations.
Health care facilities available
We will be in a remote area with very few health care facilities, though health care facilities are available in the capital. Some serious illnesses could require medical evacuation to Bangkok or Singapore, but most can be handled here.
Travel, Location and Culture
Geographic Settings
You will be working in a rural district where the majority of the people are poor, uneducated, illiterate, and Muslim.
Other (customs, clothing, shopping, etc.)
This is a very conservative area. Men will wear long pants (no shorts) and women will wear the local salwar kamiz. Sandals are recommended for both men and women. At times the women may need to cover their heads. Public displays of affection should be avoided, even between married couples.
Available Housing
Volunteers will stay in a hotel in the district town. It will be relatively clean. It will likely not have air conditioning or hot water. If hot water isn't available in the room, then it will be provided in buckets by the hotel staff upon request.
Mode of in-country travel
Car/Bus/Rickshaw/Boat/Floatplane
Possible Visa/Passport Restrictions
Please apply for a TOURIST visa. Ask for a multi-year, multi-entry visa so that you can come again!
Additional information
We are excited that you are praying about coming to work with us. This is an exciting place where God is at work. We believe that one of the greatest ways that we can show love to the people of this area is through prayer. Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, nominal Christians - nearly everyone we meet - are open to being prayed for. We believe that this will open the door to opportunities to share the gospel and later follow up with more presentations of the gospel and/or discipleship.
