La Vi?a is a small town of about 50,000 people. It is a hour from Maracay, a city of 1 million people, where there are modern hospitals, clinics, and trained physicians. The church is in the center of town, and the terrain is flat. The temperature is a constant 90 degrees with rain in the afternoons during the rainy season (April to September). Tetanus and Hepatitis immunizations are recommended. |
| Health care facilities available |
Modern health facilities are available in Maracay, approximately an hour away. |
| Travel, Location and Culture |
| Geographic Settings |
The church is in a rural area of the state of Aragua. La Vi?a is a country town of about 50,000 people. The locals have a hard time accepting the new Chinese population. The Chinese feel isolated and need the church to reach out to them in Christian love. The largest big city, Maracay, is the capitol of the state and is about 1 hour way by car. |
| Other (customs, clothing, shopping, etc.) |
Casual clothes are the norm. Shorts are not common. Most of the Chinese do not come from a Christian background and do not believe in Christ or the truth of the scriptures. While fluent in Chinese, some are beginning to learn Spanish. There are a few who speak broken English. |
